This guide explains camera connection conditions and new registration procedures.

Registration flow: First check RTSP connection, then verify and save license, model, scenario and group settings. Expand your operational scope after verifying with one representative camera.

Stable operation starts with camera connection

Cameras are the first input for EVA to understand the scene. If the image is not stable or if important objects appear too small on the screen, subsequent vision object detection and agent situation judgment will not produce expected results. Therefore, camera registration should not be understood as a process of entering an RTSP address, but as a process in which the EVA server receives video and prepares it for use in actual operation.

Before starting registration, make sure the EVA server can access the camera network, that the RTSP address and account information are correct, and that the device can be added with the current license. Next, if you prepare a scenario and vision model appropriate for the situation you want to detect in that location, you can verify the detection results immediately after registration. Just because the connection is normal does not mean registration is complete. It is safest to check on one camera whether the video looks natural on the streaming screen, whether the object box finds the required object, and whether the scenario creates an actual notification, and then zooms in with another camera.

Below, we first explain the preparations and recommended video conditions according to this flow, and then guide you through the registration process and how to check after registration. If there are multiple cameras, verify the settings based on the representative camera and apply the same conditions. Then, it will be easier to determine which stage of the network, video quality, object detection, or scenario setup is causing the problem.

Preparation

RTSP address example:

rtsp://username:[email protected]:554/stream

Recommended camera conditions

Item Recommended Conditions
Resolution 720p or higher
Frame rate 5fps or more
Codec H.264 or H.265
Network Stable wired network or Wi-Fi

The maximum number of connections depends on the EVA server's CPU, GPU, memory and network bandwidth.

Registration process

  1. Select ‘+ Add new camera’ from the camera list.
  2. Enter the RTSP URL, camera name, and camera group.
